The Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association is happy to announce we are launching our newest initiative called Titan Law at Alexandria City High School this Spring. Below are dates for the program this year. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up using the link below.

Training

OPTIONAL Monday, March 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (virtual by zoom)

  • If you are interested in volunteering, please save the date for a one-time introductory orientation and training.

  • The training is not mandatory but highly recommended for first-time volunteers, as we will be discussing the training materials and additional details.

  • Prior volunteers are welcome to attend to learn about updates to the program.

  • The training session will also be recorded and distributed to all volunteers.

Classroom Instruction Dates

April 3, 4, 8, or 9, 2024 at various times (please sign-up using the link below) at Alexandria City High School

  • Attorneys will visit classrooms in teams of three to engage with students about the topics of Criminal Procedure and Fourth Amendment law. **No prior experience with these topics is necessary – all materials will be provided.**

  • You may sign up for as many classroom visits as you’d like – and if you do not already have a group of three, sign up, and others will join.

  • You may select the date(s) and time(s) you are available to volunteer using SignUp Genius.

  • Registration for volunteers will close at noon on March 21st.  So please sign up today!

Courthouse Event

Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Alexandria Circuit Court for the City of Alexandria

  • Students will be visiting the Alexandria Courthouse to participate in a mock trial exercise and a networking event to learn more about various legal professions and pathways to a career in the legal field.

  • This event is not mandatory for classroom volunteers – and all are welcome to join, regardless of whether you are able to participate in the classroom event.

  • Please sign up to participate in the Courthouse Event via SignUp Genius (scroll to the bottom).

Interested in Volunteering? Great!

If you know of anyone who is interested in volunteering for the program, please let us know.  Participants do not have to be attorneys.  We welcome all members of our legal community including deputies, bailiffs, clerks, paralegals, administrative professionals, court reporters, court interpreters, and others.  We hope to highlight the diversity of our community.

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, feel free to contact David Hagan at dhagan@oldtownlawyers.com or Jessica Smith at Jessica.Smith@alexandriava.gov
